Now hiring: Community Event and Marketing Manager

Being isla’s Community Event and Marketing Manager involves uniting an active network of diverse businesses and professionals within the event sector. isla serves as a hub for event organisers, suppliers, brands, and prospective policymakers, scientists, and decision-makers dedicated to advancing sustainable regenerative events.

As the key figure behind our (global) community, your scope encompasses delivering consistent communication and overseeing the coordination, execution, and promotion of a range of events and activities. These efforts aim to expand our community influence and prevalence in driving isla’s core mission of sectoral transformation. The goal is to foster a deeper sense of community and facilitate the exchange of knowledge through compelling content and experiences, whether in-person or digitally.

This role reports to the Marketing Director.  Key interactions are with: Community Team, Service Operations Manager, Sales.
 

Core responsibilities:

  • With input from the Community Director, develop, maintain and deliver an annual event program across a range of sizes and identify suitable topics to meet community goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to align community programmes – including utilising social media, digital platforms and events  – promoting community activities and initiatives.
  • Craft and build communication narratives and roll out strategies to build awareness and engagement across the isla network including membership and TRACE-user communities. 
  • Responsible for producing multi-faceted campaigns to boost our member and user engagement across our isla and TRACE products and services.  
Community Development 
    • Design and deliver a constant flow of engaging regular community e-newsletters, blogs, webinars, podcasts, and other communications to our varied audiences.
    • Research new strategies and tools to help the community grow, and delve into data to understand community performance.
    • Expand and recruit members, partners, sponsors and stakeholders to engage with the isla community activities and initiatives.
    • Support the insights and action team in developing and launching a knowledge base of new resources, packs, guides and educational materials for the industry. 
    • Support our Community & Stakeholder Engagement Manager with the facilitation and delivery of stakeholder group activities contributing to transformational projects. 
    • A guardian of the isla brand and integrity across the network and activities. 
Membership Engagement and Support
    • Spotting opportunities among our membership for storytelling content, case studies, campaign ideas, or higher-bar engagements. (e.g. starting a campaign, becoming a monthly contributor).
    • Writing compelling marketing copy to promote events and memberships within various marketing channels, including websites, emails, brochures, social media, and advertising.
    • Accelerate collaborative projects with the Action Group Manager to fully benefit from community inputs, support, participation, and potential investment and funding.
    • Working with our Marketing and Sales team to develop promotional assets to advertise membership via a variety of channels.
Strategy and Budget
    • Manage end-to-end event deliveries. This includes project planning, supplier management, logistics handling, onsite management, and post-event strategy.
    • External relationship management of project partners and external suppliers such as designers, PR agencies, and freelancers, while also ensuring best value high-quality work completed in line with contractual agreements.
    • Own sponsorship negotiations, buying, and contracting for events and content. 
    • Manage community programme and individual project budget expenditures (including financial forecasting, billing and reconciliation) ensuring cost-effectiveness and return on investment.
    • Define, track and analyse the performance of marketing campaigns and events.
Our Community Event and Marketing Manager must have: 

🌿5+ years of experience in events management, marketing, communications, membership engagement or other related fields. 

🌿Proven experience in delivering events, marketing & PR campaigns and community engagement strategies.

🌿Experience in content development, social media management and web-based applications.

Further details: 
  • Title: Community Event and Marketing Manager
  • Salary: £40-45,000 p.a.
  • Position: Full Time PAYE
  • Start Date: April 2024 (or as soon as possible)
  • Holiday: 37 days per year: this includes (flexible) Bank Holidays, End of Year office close, and a day off for your birthday. 
  • Location: This role is hybrid working: approx 2 days per week in our London Office, plus onsite for events.
